Cannot Save Attachments

I have a friend, that for some reason when he clicks on the paper clip then put the curser or click on the icon to open or the save attachment it turns solid black and nothing happens. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Click TOOLS/OPTION/SECURITY then uncheck DO not save attachment
